Fun in the Sun

Wide brim hats are a summertime must for this creative canine. Kaiya's sartorial choices are at once daring, interesting and classic. Not only is she fashion-conscious, though, she is also health-conscious. The dangers of prolonged sun-exposure are the second thing on her mind (after fashion, of course), that is why she always wears hats that offer protection from the harmful rays of the sun. Smart and fashionable.

Getting Ready for the Links

When Kaiya gears up for a round of golf, she harkens back to the scottish origins of the game. Decked out in her finest plaid chapeau she gathers up her clubs for 18 holes. At the end of the day she heads for the 19th hole to speculate as to why the back nine wasn't as good as the front nine.

The Jester

Kaiya hates dull, boring parties. That's why she always brings along her party hat. She has a bit too much to drink, throws on the hat and dances on the table, much to the enjoyment of the other guests. Kaiya is ALWAYS the life of the party.

Hit the Slopes

Sunday, November 9, 2008

With ski season upon us, Kaiya must wear lively and colorful hats so she can be seen as she's carving the slopes. Her white fur blends in with the snow, but this purple fleece cap with a decorative ball has just the right amount of flair. Skiers and snowboarders unite as they watch this snow dog come speeding down the chute.

Let's Go Sailing

Kaiya is seen here in her favorite fishin' cap. Today she just may land a big one.

The Hat that Started it All

One night, while brushing our teeth before bed, my wife decided it was a good time to tell me something. Through a mouthful of paste and over the buzzing of her toothbrush she said "Hakhf hnaj rapg." I gave her a quizzical look, and she realized it was impossible to hold a conversation while brushing teeth. She quickly mumbled "I'll tell you in a minute," but she still had a mouthful of Aquafresh, so I heard something completely different."Kaiya in a hat?" I asked. Kaiya is our dog and I was puzzling over the thought of why she'd need a hat. Kelly spat in the sink and started giggling. I wasn't getting it so I asked, "What hat?" This turned into laughter and thus began a running joke. Not too long after this incident we received some clothes for our daughter who was due soon. I found a bonnet and put it on Kaiya. Like a good girl she sat very still and let us take multiple photos in between fits of laughter. Kaiya is an important part of our family and it's good to know she has such trust in us that she'll let us dress her up without a problem. This bodes well for our daughter, maybe not as well for Kaiya.
